Welcome

Dear Colleagues,

We take great pleasure in inviting you to Berlin, a city located at the heart of the crossroads between Eastern and Western Europe! Until two decades ago, this city typified the separation between political systems and ideas in Europe and now is a symbol of unification and new hope.

Psychiatry in Berlin has a dramatic history, ranging from the first attempt to integrate neurology and psychiatry in the Charité in the 19th century with Wilhelm Griesinger, who also fought stigmatisation of mentally ill patients, to the organisation of the murder of at least two hundred thousand patients during National Socialism and to the recovery and rise of a patient-oriented, evidence-based and scientifically active discipline.

Currently, Berlin is a vibrant city with a strong neuroscience and psychosocial research focus and a city open for migrants and new social trends and artistic developments.
We welcome you to our city and hope you have time to explore Berlin and enjoy the Meeting.
